Forming a Legacy to Serve Humanity

I was introduced to Afzal and Hand on Heart during my year as High Sheriff of Hertfordshire. I witnessed first-hand the amazing work that this small group of dedicated volunteers are doing to enhance the lives of the homeless and rough sleepers, of children whose families are not able to support their school needs and others less fortunate sectors of our society. They are a truly loyal team with a very open heart.

Hand on Heart are a brilliant group and I am so pleased that they serve people in need in Watford and across this area. They have very quickly made great connections with other groups and have been quick to identify people in need and how they can support them. I am grateful for their generosity, kindness and positivity.

It’s been an absolute pleasure working with Hand On Heart over the past couple of years, particularly after London went into Lockdown. The ideas they bring, campaigns they run and media posts they publish are all very impressive. More importantly however is how awesome they are to work with! A fantastic grass roots organisation with a lot of potential and one that Who is Hussain – London have been delighted to get to know more as time goes on.

Here at New Hope, are so grateful for Hand on Heart’s ‘winter warmer packs’. We work with people who have nothing – sometimes just the clothes that they are wearing. It is wonderful to be able to give someone something so practical and of such good quality. It helps bestow dignity and respect on someone. Thank you to everyone who has been involved with this project.

Hand on Heart have been so supportive. The bags and essential items provided, have been particularly useful throughout the pandemic and have been received with much thanks from the Outreach team and guests. Thank you for being such a great support to us

I would like to say a huge thankyou to Hand on Heart the the wonderful donation of 400 filled rucksacks to deliver to the needy children in our local schools.These were greatly appreciated by the families and has made such a difference to 400 children in need.
It is an honour to work closely with this wonderful charity and hope to continue to do so for many years to come.

Being a part of Hand on Heart was an amazing opportunity. Participating in their various charity drives was a fantastic experience that opened my eyes and showed me how lucky we are even though we don’t realise it.
I was able to understand how people in our local community are in dire need. It really means so much to them that people they don’t even know are willing to make an effort to make things a little bit easier for them.

A beautiful and worthwhile initiative which our guests look forward to throughout the year. Getting brand new clothes, underwear and socks is so important when you don’t have access to a washing machine and Hand on Heart’s Packs offer so much more.
A team that’s dedicated and active all year round, we at Children of Adam love working with them and having their energy at our distribution.

I have served as a councillor in Watford for over 20 years and seen the generosity of individuals and organisations in the town. However to say I have been impressed with the length Hand on Heart go through to acquire and distribute just the right items for the individuals and families they wish to support would be an huge understatement. What I have seen in Hand on Heart is a team of volunteers whose professionalism, initiative and enthusiasm would be credit to any FT 100 listed company
Keep up your great work … the vulnerable in our community need you

The other day my five year olds suddenly said to me: “Papa please can I do some charity?” I took him to our sadqa (charity) box and gave him a coin to place in it. He turned around and said “Not this charity! I want to pack clothes and food for the homeless because its so cold.”
This struck me deeply because I realised that this sense of physically doing something for the less fortunate has come from his involvement in Hand on Heart. It is this unique emphasis that HoH places on involving our kids and developing their sense of social responsibility that is so important, especially in an age when many of our children often lead privileged lives with easy access to material comforts.

Hand on Heart have played a vital role in their work with the most vulnerable in our society, whether it is providing winter warmer bags for the homeless or donating to foodbanks or providing much needed school bags for children that need them. Not only this, they have created a network of families where young and old come together and work together for the greater good. They have generated an enthusiasm within a new generation of young people who are eager to volunteer and carry out charity work. I am at awe of the tremendous work they do. Thank you for what you do and long may it continue.

We have been working with Hand on Heart for a few years now and their commitment, service delivery and all round attitude is of the very highest standard. We always look forward to collaborating with them as we know when they commit they always deliver putting the needs of others first with their highest quality products and the love that goes into the whole operation, the smiles on the faces of the service users is testament to how much of an impact they are making.
