2024 Winter Warmer Pack Campaign
Throughout the UK, as the winter months take hold and the cost of living crisis continues, we are witnessing a 20-30% surge in the number of guests at each outreach.
The expenses connected to rent, mortgages, and the escalating cost of living are a few of the elements that contribute to homelessness. As a result, individuals are forced to confront the harsh realities of sleeping on the streets, sofa surfing, or desperately seeking refuge in cars, garages, and sheds.
During these challenging times, our main aim is to provide essential winter items to those in need.
Each year at this time, Hand on Heart support hundreds of people facing homelessness with our Winter Warmer Pack Campaign.
The project will serve winter essential items to rough sleepers during these cold dark months.
About the Packs
In total, 1300 Winter Warmer Packs will be assembled and distributed to vulnerable groups in February.
The project will be supported by Hand on Heart’s dedicated and trusted volunteers. In addition to Set up and Distribution teams, over 30 families, 3 schools, 2 care homes and corporate companies will be recruited (see Get Involved page) to help assemble the 1300 drawstring bags.
Each pack will be filled with essential winter items such as
- joggers
- thermals (top and bottom)
- thermal socks (3 pairs)
- underwear (3 pairs)
- winter gloves
- woolly hats
- deodorants
- toothbrush/toothpaste
The guest will receive all the items in a quality drawstring bag.
In addition, sleeping bags, hot water bottles, wet wipes, blankets, and bottled water will be handed out at Outreach Drives.
When, Where and with Who?
Distribution will take place at 17 Outreach Drives while working alongside 14 charitable organisations.
