SCHOOL BACKPACK CAMPAIGN
ORPHANS IN IRAQ

Hand on Heart (HoH) are embarking on the first overseas project together with the help of our partners Beta Charitable Trust (BCT).

After the success of the School Backpack campaign in the UK where 900 children from low-income families received backpacks full of school supplies, HoH and BCT are organising 500 school backpacks to be distributed to orphans in Iraq before their new school term in October.

The backpacks consists of the items listed below.

Writing Paper
Sketchbook
Pencils
Pens
Rubbers
Sharpeners
Rulers
Pencil Case
Crayons
Colour pencils
Reusable water flask
Backpacks

They will be purchased locally and assembled by a team in Diwaniyyah working alongside Anameel Alrahma School. Furthermore, the packs will be kindly assembled by the widows (mother’s) of the Anameel Alrahma School.

Of the 500 backpacks, Anameel Alrahma School will keep 150 packs for their orphan pupils. The remaining 350 will be allocated to Al-Kawthar who will distribute to orphans across local areas in Iraq.

The project has been carefully coordinated by the wonderful collaboration of all parties including Muslim Counsellor, Berak Hussain who has been instrumental in helping Widows and Orphans in Iraq with a Mental Wellness Program.
